As a state-owned company, G.I.B. focuses its work on supporting the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia in achieving its goals of securing skilled workers, combating unemployment and fighting poverty and social exclusion. The initiatives, programs, projects and funding instruments of North Rhine-Westphalia's employment and social policy focus on four main areas: Target groups and SGB II support, youth and employment, combating poverty and social planning, and job design. G.I.B. assumes a hinge function between the state and the regions with its technical support of state programs and initiatives. Regional decision-makers and multipliers are supported in the implementation of state programmes, companies and sponsors are accompanied in the realization of projects, and projects and programmes are subjected to qualitative controlling. Conversely, the G.I.B. bundles the experiences and wishes of the regional players vis-à-vis the state.
